This document provides multidisciplinary guidance for safely performing tracheostomies and for post-tracheostomy care in patients who were diagnosed with COVID-19. Please note, there is a new recommendation to place previously COVID-infected, post-tracheostomy patients on special droplet and contact isolation during their incident hospital stay when they were treated for COVID. If they are readmitted less than 28 days after their initial test, the usual standard and transmission-based precautions apply. Updated 05.21.20
